About us – Plaro’s history and mission

We are making shoes since 1978, when Ryszard Pilch, our Company’s founder, started his business activity in Zebrzydowice near Kalwaria Zebrzydowska – the cradle of our craft.

In 2005, the father is joined by his daughter, Karolina, who grew up helping around the Company and now is its owner. Together, they create the Plaro brand, which is based on a tradition, but takes into account the future and combines many years of experience, high-quality materials and production process, and timeless design.

The name Plaro is a combination of two elements. Caro – it is both an Italian abbreviation for Karolina, our founder’s name, and something dear, close to a heart like favourite pair of shoes. The “PL” prefix references the Pilch surname, as well as Polish origin of our Company.

The Plaro philosophy has several important pillars:

We respect the utilitarian object as a companion in man’s life.

We design with a view to long service in planned function. Because of that, we carefully select materials and manufacturing technology.

We want people to buy shoes with intent to use them for many years.

In order to enable this approach, a shoe’s form must be timeless, classic, and essential, as well as must have a “current” appearance for at least 10 years.

Package used to deliver shoes to users highlights these values. High-quality cotton bags can be used in daily life in many ways while the beautiful black box closed on a rubber can store “treasures” in the most refined environment.
